Once
upon a time in the village of Arbizu, in Navarre-Basque Country, a
local lad from the neighbouring town of Etxarri, stole a dozen
chickens. Henceforth he was known as "Pius the Twelfth" or
"Clucky Dozen". The people from Arbizu refused to report
Clucky to the Guardia Civil knowing well their complaint would fall
on deaf ears. Anyhow, Clucky Dozen paid a heavy price cause people
lost sight of his good name forevermore.
In this our 'Fascinating Winter', we're
discovering that Patxi Zamora, a flight attendant with 30 years
experience with Iberia Airlines, has been sacked all because of a
vendetta by the Guardia Civil. A colonel within the force refuses to
renew Patxi's flight permission attacking his good name. The fact is
that Patxi is a well-known respected spokesperson and representative
of Kontuz. Besides giving press conferences he is well-known for his
witty press articles regarding corruption within the former Navarrese
Government, and Spanish Police, Guardia Civil and Spanish
administration. Patxi has been a thorn in their side hence the
animosity. Patxi's good name is at stake; he is not the 'Clucky
Dozen' here. Not one to sit back and do nothing, I am convinced Patxi
and other members of Kontuz will fight on investigating and reporting
corruption…
Catalan poet Joan Margarit, in his recent
publication 'Un hiver fascinant', A Fascinating Winter ', ends one of
his poems, 'Finalitats', with the words… 'Forgetting will never
make you innocent / but ignorance will always make you guilty'. We
need to know what corrupt politician's have been up to for a long
time and we're not simply talking about a dozen chickens. All will be
discovered one day thanks to Patxi and his fellow travellers...
